The American School's Auction Gala

It's a surreal life I'm living here in London sometimes. Izzy's school had a black tie auction gala this past weekend.

Leading up to the event, some other Moms and I were talking about what we were wearing to the Gala. Most went to big name designer stores on Regent St to purchase their dress but the best part of the conversation was the subject of shoes. They all threw around names like Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin & Manolo Blahnik without a blink of the eye. Tony couldn't understand why this astounded me so much until we went to the Auction.

Here is a sample of the ridiculous amounts of money spent...

12 Needlepoint Nutcrackers -- £30,000, roughly $41,600
6 tickets to U2 concert -- £15,000
10 Penthouse tickets to Indy 500 -- £10,000
3 night private Greek cruise -- £32,000
Plate of Christmas Cookies delivered to your home -- £800

I'm wearing Vintage Ralph Lauren, circa 2001 and bling courtesy of Teri Schriver.

The venue was Guildhall. My picture doesn't do it justice... it looked like Harry Potter's wedding reception at Hogwarts.

The woman in red is Isabelle's teacher, Ms. Shaw.
